Joshua C. Scott

Through early 2026 I worked on the AI policy portfolio at the Office of Regulatory Management in Governor Glenn Youngkin’s cabinet, where I ran Virginia’s agentic AI regulatory review pilot under Executive Order 51 and coordinated the AI Task Force (EO 30) through to its final report.

My current work runs in three directions:

  • Building with AI on real projects.
  • Studying it at the theoretical level: interpretability, AI systems and ecosystems, ML/NN at the code and mathematical level.
  • Working with skilled practitioners — small teams and expert individuals — on what AI lets them deliver that firms used to dominate.

I studied Anthropology at Columbia. Past professional experience: legal operations, FICC research; earlier, a few years as a firefighter and EMT on Bainbridge Island, WA. My CV has the full record.
